Frequently Asked Questions
What things may cause an individual or couple to be turned down by a home study agency?
Few things, really--things that will seem very obvious to you: a history of child abuse, lack of sufficient income to support a child; a serious health condition that would interfere with good parenting; a serious history of criminal behavior or drug/alcohol dependency; a serious conflict between a couple over the stability of their marriage or their desire to parent through adoption.
A regulation exists in all three states where we are licensed (PA/DE/NJ) that discourages the use of physical/corporal punishment when disciplining a child. If you reside in New Jersey, state regulations require that you sign a statement which says you agree not to use any form of harsh physical punishment, including spanking, slapping, or shaking.
