Frequently Asked Questions

What is an Adoption Home Study?

A home study is a multi-stage process conducted by a licensed adoption agency to determine whether adoptive parents are ready to provide a child with a loving, stable home. The Home Study report is a legal document which approves you to adopt a child. It describes your background, family history, education, career, home, health, finances, marriage/domestic partnership status, parenting experience, parenting philosophy, and the kind of child or children you are seeking to adopt. It assesses your readiness to adopt, and verifies that you have been educated about adoptive parenting issues.
